IDEAR Early Career Training Program

The IDEAR Early Career Training Program is an informal training network for PhD students and early career researchers affiliated with the IDEAR network. The program is aimed at facilitating networking, training and collaboration between early career researchers within the IDEAR institutions. It began in spring 2018 and will run at least until 2023.

The biannual courses will run over one and a half days of training in host institutions within the IDEAR network. The morning of the second day is held together with the main IDEAR network. The program for each semester is planned by the Early Career Training Committee in collaboration with the host institution and will focus on general academic skills and competencies and the key competences of the host institution.

Contact persons for the Early Career Training Committee are Kristin Farrants (kristin.farrants@ki.se), Robin Högnäs (robin.hognas@su.se) and Baowen Xue (baowen.xue.10@ucl.ac.uk).

Selection and costs

Each home institution within the IDEAR network will select 2-3 early career researchers (e.g. PhD students and Postdocs) who they think will benefit from a specific training meeting. It will not necessarily be the same people who attend the training program each time. Travel and accommodation is covered by the home institution, unless the host institution has funds available to cover these costs.  Otherwise the IDEAR network can cover some costs. A participation certificate will be issued by the end of each training week.
